It can be hard to acknowledge that an emotion is controlling a certain behavior. Several years go, I struggled with a boss and it would really stress me out and make me upset. I would then pick up Ben & Jerry's Phish Food to treat myself that evening. Then I had an epiphany one day - if that person was already upsetting me and then indirectly responsible for me pigging out which also upset me, then I was letting them have too much effect on my life. I decided to change my behavior and get out my anger at the gym instead of eating a pint of ice cream. It made me stronger and feel more in control, a complete win-win!
